The Andretti family is the first family to have four relatives to compete in the same series (CART). In 1990, 1991, and 1992, they had four family members competing in the Indy 500. John Andretti is the nephew of IndyCar racing legend Mario Andretti. Mario's sons, Michael Andretti and Jeff Andretti, also raced in CART and Formula One. John Andretti is also the godson of four-time Indianapolis 500 winner, A.J. Foyt, Jr. All-Time USAC career wins record holder A.J. Foyt, Jr. is the grandfather of A.J. Foyt, IV, who currently holds the record for the youngest driver to race in the Indy 500. Foyt, Jr. is the grandfather and adoptive father of former NASCAR driver and IRL driver, Larry Foyt.
