Actor/comedian Pauly Shore (1993's Son in Law, 1996's Bio-dome)'s father is comedian Sammy Shore, who was chosen by Colonel Tom Parker as the opening act for Elvis Presley's Las Vegas show of 1969-1972, and who founded The Comedy Store on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.
Pauley's mom, Mitzi Shore, took over operations of The Comedy Store in 1973, and it was there that Pauly got his start as a comedian. In February 2009, Sammy opened a new club called "Sammy's Comedy by the Shore" in the River Palms Hotel & Casino, Laughlin, Nevada. Pauly lent a hand by appearing in the grand opening performance, and the two appeared together in a 2009 Showtime special.
Pauly's brother, Peter Shore, is a writer/director/producer who wrote and directed the 1992 TV special The Comedy Store's 20th Birthday. Peter also directed TV's Hard Copy and A Current Affair.
