Elmer Bernstein
Although Leonard Bernstein and Elmer Bernstein were both accomplished, award-winning composers who shared a slight facial similarity, they were actually not related. Professionally, they distinguished themselves by the use of nicknames. Elmer was known as "Bernstein West," and Leonard as "Bernstein East." Leonard, who passed away in 1990, was best known for his contributions to musicals such as On the Town, West Side Story, and Candide. Elmer, who passed away in 2004, composed music for over 200 films/TV shows, including the films The Ten Commandments, To Kill a Mockingbird, Ghostbusters, and Trading Places.
