Joe DiMaggio, Vince DiMaggio, and Dom DiMaggio were all brothers and professional baseball players. Joe, a center fielder who played for the New York Yankees (from 1936-1951), was the most famous of the three. In addition to his success with baseball, Joe was famously married to actress Marilyn Monroe for less than a year in 1954. Their whirlwind courtship, marriage, and divorce was a source of public fascination. Shortly before Marilyn's lifeless body was discovered, Joe was reportedly prepared to propose re-marriage to the actress. He had a half dozen red roses delivered to her crypt three times a week for 20 years after her sudden death. Vince, the older brother of both Joe and Dom, was a center fielder who made his MLB debut in 1937 for the Boston Bees and ended his career in 1946 with the New York Giants. Dom was also a center fielder who played his entire MLB career (1940-1953) with the Boston Red Sox.
