Gwyneth Paltrow started out as "Wendy" in Robin Williams's Hook, and has gone on to star in such movies as Emma and Shakespeare in Love. Her mother is actress Blythe Danner, star of stage (1970 Tony Award-winner for Butterflies are Free) and screen (The Great Santini, The Prince of Tides, Meet the Parents). Before she was a star, Gwyneth had a role in her mom's 1992 TV movie Cruel Doubt, and Blythe played mother to her daughter's character in 2003's Sylvia.  Gwyneth's father was Bruce Paltrow, a television writer and director who worked on such series as St. Elsewhere before dying of cancer in 2002. Her younger brother, Jake Paltrow, is attempting to establish himself as a director, having worked on NYPD Blue and the 2006 movie The Good Night, in which he cast his more famous sister in one of the lead roles. Gwyneth's first cousin, Katherine Moennig, is a well-known actress best known for her role as "Shane McCutcheon" on the HBO series The L Word. Gwyneth's uncle, Harry Danner, as well as his daughter, have made several appearances in popular television shows such as Cold Case and Touched by an Angel.
