Waylon Payne is the son of longtime Willie Nelson guitarist Jody Payne and country singer Sammi Smith, whose biggest hit was 1971's "Help Me Make it Through the Night," a song written by Kris Kristofferson.  Payne, who was named after his godfather, Waylon Jennings, is both a musician and actor. He played Jerry Lee Lewis in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line. In 2008 he got his first lead role in Crazy, a biopic about 1950s country guitarist Hank Garland, who played on classic songs by Elvis, Roy Orbison, and Patsy Cline.
