British stage and screen actor Rory Kinnear was introduced to American audiences when he played "Rusworth" in the 2007 TV movie version of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park (left). In the 2008 James Bond movie Quantum of Solace, he played "Bill Tanner," right-hand man to Judi Dench's "M." Rory's father was the late stage and screen actor Roy Kinnear, who played the father of spoiled "Veruca Salt" in 1971's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, "Planchet" in 1974's The Four Musketeers, and "Selden the Axe Murderer" in 1978's The Hound of the Baskervilles. The elder Kinnear had bit parts in everything from the 1965 Beatles movie Help! to the 1977 Disney movie Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. Fans of '80s music will remember him as the distraught band manager running around in the 1985 video of Mike & The Mechanics' "All I Need is a Miracle." Roy died from a horse-riding accident in 1988 at the age of 54, when Rory was only ten. Roy's widow and Rory's mother is British character actress Carmel Cryan, best known for her role as "Brenda Boyle" on the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. Rory's sister, Kirsty Kinnear, is a film casting associate.
Despite sharing a last name, American actor Greg Kinnear is NOT related.
