Three-time Academy Award-winning producer/director/filmmaker and self-proclaimed "oceanographic technician," Jacques Cousteau, was married to Simone Cousteau. Simone worked as an assistant director on her husband's 1964 film World Without Sun. The couple's sons Jean-Michel Cousteau and Phillipe Cousteau also got in on the underwater film-pioneering action. Phillipe was a cinematographer/director/producer on several of his father's projects in the 1960s-1970s. In 1989, Jean-Michel continued his father's legacy, directing Cousteau: Alaska: Outrage at Valdez. In 2008, he began starring on the series Jean-Michel Cousteau: Ocean Adventures. Jacques suffered a heart attack and died in 1997.
