Actress/musician Courtney Love (1996's The People vs. Larry Flynt, 1999's Man on the Moon) was the lead singer of rock band Hole from 1989-2002. She was married to grunge band Nirvana's frontman Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide at the age of 27 in 1994. Courtney is the daughter of Hank Harrison, the first manager for The Grateful Dead, and author Linda Carroll. Linda wrote a memoir in 2006 titled Her Mother's Daughter. Courtney's maternal grandmother was the children's novelist Paula Fox, and her maternal great-grandmother was screenwriter Elsie Fox (1937's The Last Train from Madrid). Paula is the author of 16 children's books and six autobiographical novels. Elsie's husband, (Courtney's maternal grandfather) was screenwriter Paul Hervey Fox, who wrote 14 films from 1930-1953. Paul was the first cousin of film star Douglas Fairbanks (1921's The Three Musketeers, 1929's The Iron Mask and The Taming of the Shrew, 1934's The Private Life of Don Juan).
