Sigourney Weaver & Family

Actress Sigourney Weaver (Alien, GhostbustersWorking Girl, Avatar, 2012 TV mini-series Political Animals) is the daughter of Sylvester Weaver, who, as president of NBC from 1949 to 1956, created the Today and Tonight! shows, and who otherwise presided over the development of television as we know it today.

Sigourney's mother was Elizabeth Inglis, a British actress who gave up her career in order to raise her children.

Sylvester's younger brother (and Sigourney's uncle) Doodles Weaver was a character actor who racked up more than 130 movie and TV screen credits.

Sigourney's husband, Jim Simpson, has a smattering of writing, acting, and directing credits to his name, including assistant director on The Spice Girls' 1997 Spice World. The couple played husband and wife in 2002's The Guys (about the World Trade Center tragedy), which was directed by Jim and which featured their daughter Charlotte Simpson as (who else?) their daughter. In 2007, Jim directed his wife in the off-Broadway play Crazy Mary.
