Actress Phylicia Rashad ("Clair Huxtable" from The Cosby Show, "Ruth Lucas" on Cosby) and sportscaster/ former NFL player Ahmad Rashad are the parents of actress Condola Rashad. Condola appeared in 2010's Sex in the City 2 and 2012's 30 Beats, as well as having bit parts on TV.

Condola’s aunt (Phylicia’s sister) Debbie Allen (“Lydia Grant” on Fame, “Dr. Catherine Avery” on Grey’s Anatomy), is also an actress. Debbie and Phylicia starred together in 2001’s TV movie The Old Settler. Debbie appeared with her sister on an episode of The Cosby Show in 1998 and Cosby in 1997. Ahmad, Phylicia, and Debbie all appeared on several episodes of the 1980s-1990s series A Different World.

Debbie’s husband, actor Norman Nixon, has had a few small appearances in TV shows, including one episode of A Different World. Their son, Norman Nixon, Jr., is an actor who appeared in the 2006 TV movieLife is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story. Their daughter, Vivian Nixon, is a dancer/actress who currently stars (as a dancer) on TV’s Smash
