Charlotte Gainsbourg & Family
Singer/actress Charlotte Gainsbourg played Sean Penn's wife in 2003's "21 Grams."
Charlotte's parents, Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin, met while filming 1969's "Slogan."

Actress Charlotte Gainsbourg (1996's Jane Eyre, 2003's 21 Grams, 2007's I'm Not There, 2011's Melancholia) is the daughter of late French actor/singer/director Serge Gainsbourg and English actress Jane Birkin (1973's Don Juan, Or If Don Juan Were a Woman, 1978's Death on the Nile). Jane and Serge met when they co-starred in 1969's Slogan, and sang the film's theme song together. They also recorded a number of other French duets. Charlotte began her singing career on a 1984 duet with her father, titled "Lemon Incest."

Jane's mother, Judy Campbell, was a character actress who was best known for her theatre work. Jane's brother, Andrew Birkin, is a screenwriter/director who directed her in 1993's The Cement Garden. Charlotte's half-sister Lou Doillon (from Jane's marriage to French director Jacques Doillon) is a model and actress.

Lou's first onscreen role was playing her mother's daughter in 1987's Kung-Fu Master. Lou also acted in her father's 1988 French film Trop (Peu) d'Amour

Charlotte and Lou's half-sister (from Jane's marriage to English James Bond composer John Barry) is actress Kate Barry. Kate was an extra in her mother's films Slogan and Sex-Power (1970), and an assistant director for 2002's Lover, in which Charlotte starred.
